John Cischke announced that he will officially retire as the Luce County Sheriff effective December 31 of this year.
The Luce County Sheriff’s Department is already searching for a qualified candidate to fill the temporary position, which will be up for election in 2024.
Cischke joined the department following his retirement from the Department of Natural Resources where he served 31 years in the Law Enforcement Division.
Former Sheriff Kevin Erickson hired him as a recreational deputy and he later became the undersheriff.
Cischke ran for Sheriff in 2016, and again in 2022. His current term ends in 2024.
