The Luce West Mackinac County Fair Board has announced the schedule for the 2023 fair, which is set to begin on Thursday, July 27 running through Sunday, July 30. The fair activities will be held at the fairgrounds located on County Road 399 by the Luce County Airport.

On Thursday, the grounds open at 10 a.m. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. is the livestock registration with the livestock judging to take place at 8 p.m. The exhibit building and barn closes at 8 p.m. Admission to the fair grounds on Thursday is free.

On Friday, the grounds open at 8 a.m.; admission is $6 per person. Children under 10 are free. The cookshack serving food and refreshments will be available from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The judging of the exhibits will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will also be a dog show, which will take place at 4 p.m.

Attendees can visit the exhibit building and small animal barn beginning at 12 p.m. A number of kids activities and games will take place from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The majority of the fair activities will take place on Saturday. The fairgrounds and cookshack will open at 8 a.m., and admission is again $6 per person. Saturday’s admission fee will also cover general admission to the Bump and Run derby. Children under the 10 are admitted free.

There will be a horse show beginning at 9 a.m.

Other activities taking place throughout the day Saturday include a flea market, Bingo, animal swap, Cat in the Hat story tent and a digital scavenger hunt. A camera is needed to participate.

From 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. the Kickin’ Country band will perform.

Along with fair activities, TNT Demolition Derby will be hosting a Bump and Run on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the grandstand.

On Sunday, the grounds open at 9 a.m. The horse speed show will take place at 11p.m. The grounds are also open for free admission on Sunday.

The fair board is requesting exhibit entries. Entries need to be turned in to the exhibit barn on Thursday, July 27. Judging will take place on Friday.

Entry category examples include agricultural and floriculture, antiques, domestic arts and home economics.
