The Luce County LINK was hoping to find a new home by Monday, July 31, a date set by the group’s board. Though they followed a couple of leads, plans to relocate didn’t work out.
The organization, currently housed in the Tahquamenon Area Senior Citizens building, must leave by the end of the day on August 31.
“We will be beginning to liquidate,” said LINK Board President Marianne Haupt.
The LINK will host a rummage sale beginning Friday, August 11 through Sunday, August 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Items will be for sale by a reasonable donation.
“We have lots of things,” Haupt said.
The remainder of the items will be given to Yooper Youth and the Dunlap Ministry Center. “We don’t want to give it to just one place, but throughout the whole community,” she said.
Food pantry items will be distributed to other pantries.
Haupt said that they are not dissolving their 501C3 status just yet in hope of securing a building.
The LINK was established in 1997 by Mary Archambeau as a safe place for Newberry’s youth to gather. It grew in many capacities over the years and now serves as a food pantry, event center, and more.
