Thomas W. Lindsey Sr.
April 20, 1944 – June 5, 2023
Lifelong Newberry resident, Thomas William Lindsey Sr., 79, died Monday evening June 5, 2023 at UP Health Systems-Marquette.
Born April 20, 1944 in Newberry, son of the late Ernest and Elsie (Ferguson) Lindsey, Tom was employed as maintenance/groundskeeper at Kampgrounds of America (KOA) in Newberry for ten years until his retirement. Tom’s hobbies included hunting, fishing and reading.
In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his sons Loren Lindsey and Larry Lindsey, siblings Edith Applekamk, Bernice Lindsey, Ernest Lindsey, Frank Lindsey, Harold Lindsey, Robert Lindsey, Donald Lindsey and Wendell Lindsey.
Survivors include his loving wife, the former Diane Edgar, whom he married April 30, 1993 in Newberry; son Thomas Jr. “Tommy” Lindsey of Ewen, Michigan, step-children Mark (Danette) Crandell of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Jason Crandell of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Miranda (Paul Firek) Crandell of Sheboygan, Wisconsin and Christopher (Annelise) Crandell of Marshfield, Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; siblings Charles (Shirley) Lindsey of Newberry and David (Mary LeMay) Lindsey of Escanaba; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Per his request, cremation services were accorded with no public services scheduled.

Romas “Ron” Senkus
September 21, 1942 – June 10, 2023
Longtime Deer Park resident, Romas “Ron” Mathew Senkus, 80, died Saturday morning June 10, 2023 at his residence in the presence of his loving family and the care of North Woods Home Health and Hospice.
Born September 21, 1942 in Caunas, Lithuania, son of the late Vincent and Valerie (Blenkus) Senkus, Ron moved to Michigan in his youth at the age of seven.
Ron was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Warren and attended Wayne State University. He was formerly employed as a Tool and Die Maker for Ford Motor Company and then owned and operated Commercial Watch Repair for over 40 years until his retirement in 2015.
Ron and his wife, Delphine, were seasonal residents of Deer Park for many years and permanent residents since 1997. Ron enjoyed fishing, building things, working on computers and a companion to many cats and dogs over the years.
In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his siblings Vida (Bo) Uzzle and Irene Dawood.
Survivors include his loving wife, the former Delphine Stempien, whom he married November 28, 1964 in Center Line, Michigan; sons Mark (Karen) Senkus of Sault Ste. Marie and David (Wanda) Senkus of Macomb; granddaughters Katelyn Senkus, Brianna Senkus and Mikaela Senkus; siblings John (Barbie) Senkus of Kenockee and Vince (Cindy) Senkus of Roscommon.
Per request, cremation services were accorded. A gathering of family and friends celebrating the life of Ron will take place at a later date.

Margaret J. Carlson
December 13, 1939 – June 4, 2023
Margaret (Peggy) Carlson, age 83, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away on June 4, 2023.
Peggy was born in Marquette, Michigan on December, 13, 1939. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Richard Carlson; her parents John and Margaret Rublein, and her daughter in law Deena Carlson.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Vicki Bork; her son Scott Carlson (Kris Geeraerts); her grandchildren George (Taylor) Bork; Richard Bork; Andrea Bork; Devon (Ty) Bennett; great grandchildren Colton Bork; Barrett Bork; Amelia Bork; Alanna Bennett; Kendal Bennett; and Addison Bennett.
Peggy graduated from Northern Michigan University and taught elementary school in Marquette and Newberry. The family reluctantly left the UP in the mid-1970’s and moved to Lansing. Peggy went on to earn a Master’s Degree from Michigan State University and worked for the Michigan Department of Education until her retirement in the mid-1990’s.
Peggy loved to travel with her friends and grandchildren commemorating her travels with two tattoos she and her granddaughter Andrea got when Peggy was in her 80’s. Peggy and her wonderful friends (lovingly known as “The Bridge Club”) were known to frequent local saloons to watch her son’s bands play rock music (with their hearing aids turned off).
A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, 12:00 pm at Delta Presbyterian Church with Pastor Wendy Pratt officiating, 6100 W. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI 48917. A visitation was held from 10:00 am until service time. Donations in honor of Peggy can be made to Lansing Christian Services, PO Box 22112, Lansing, MI 48909.
