Terrance J. Villemure
December 26, 1957 – August 23, 2023
Longtime Newberry resident, Terrance James Villemure, 65, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 23, 2023 at his home after a short battle with cancer.
Born December 26, 1957 in Newberry, son of Joseph and Carol (Vincent) Villemure, Terry worked all of his life as a Journeyman Electrician and was a retiree of the IBEW – 906 Local Union in Marquette, Michigan. Terry was well known in the industry because of his work ethic and knowledge of his trade. When electric companies called for union workers they specifically asked for “Villemure”. He had many workers under his direction and was willing to teach them all he knew. He was a very giving man and gave of his time and talents to anyone that needed it.
Terry is preceded in death by his wife Linda (Groh) Villemure; mother Carol (Vincent) Villemure; brother Mike Villemure; daughter Brenda McIntire; paternal grandparents Joe and Alma Villemure and maternal grandparents William and Dora Vincent.
Survivors include his children Terrance (Christine) McIntire of Adrian, Brentson McIntire of Munising, Kendra (Joe) Ferguson of Davisburg and Kyle Villemure of Sandusky; father Joe Villemure of Newberry; sisters Jody (Randy) Mark and Cathy (Bill) Glime all of Newberry, Sandy (John) Kitson of St. Louis, Missouri and Judy (Dennis) McGuire of Skandia; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 at 12:00 noon at the Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry with Fr. Jacek Wtyklo, of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, officiating.

Edward Sovey
October 17, 1945 – August 9, 2023
Edward “Ed” Sovey, age 77, of Newberry, Michigan, died at home on August 9, 2023. He was born in Flint, Michigan, on October 17, 1945, to Edward and Marion (Wilcox) Sovey.
Ed grew up in Vasser, Michigan and graduated from Vasser High School and went on to enlist in the United States Army, where he was a cook. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Ed had several jobs, most recently he managed the Trout Lake Campground for nine years until his retirement in 2008.
Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, golfing, playing euchre, and watching the Detroit Tigers and golf on TV. He loved being with his family, his dog Miley and two cats Jasmine and Paige, and he looked forward to his family reunion every summer.
Ed is survived by his longtime girlfriend of seventeen years, Cynthia Faulkner; daughters, Carletta (Thomas) Sovey, Katrina (David) Sovey, and Holly (Richard) Dennis, all from Flint, Michigan; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren (with two on the way); sisters, Carol (Lee) Baldwin and Debbie Hoffman; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and close friends Al and Arlee Faulkner.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Marion; stepdad Frank Hoffman; brother, Bill Sovey; sister Linda (Paul) Weeks; granddaughter Rebecca Alexander and great-granddaughters Adrian Dean and Arrianna Alexander.
