After months of being closed due to construction, the Luce County Road Commission has announced that Luce County Road 407 between the Alger County Line easterly to Country Road 410 West is now open to traffic, though weight restrictions have been put in place.
The weight restriction is necessary due to the road conditions after recent rains and the newly placed aggregate surface. “It is still a little bit soft, and we don’t want it to be tore up,” said Stuart McTiver, Luce County Road Commission Engineer and Manager.
The maximum total vehicle weight shall not exceed 15 tons (30,000 lbs.) unless authorized by permit.
The area between Deer Park and the subdivision, which is roughly 8 miles, is a seasonal road.
“There is still some work that didn’t compete this year,” McTiver. There will be no detours during next seasons construction period.
The weight restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.
