Lillian (Rapp) Teske
November 6, 1924 – December 24, 2023

Longtime Newberry resident, Lillian (Rapp) Teske, 99, died Sunday evening December 24, 2023 at Newberry Assisted Living Community in the presence of her loving family and North Woods Home Care and Hospice.

Born November 6, 1924 in Engadine, Michigan, daughter of the late Joseph and Frieda (Fergin) Rapp, Lillian married Henry Teske January 22, 1942 in Waukegan, Illinois, shortly before Henry left to serve in the European Theater during World War II. Upon his return, they established their home in Newberry.

Lillian was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, was active in the Ladies Aide and attended church regularly.  Her family knew her as a competitive card player, who often schooled others in the games of Dirty Queens or Skip Bo.  Lillian’s baking was also first class.  Lillian created delicious and beautiful cinnamon rolls, cakes, bread and cookies.  Her family coveted her homemade German donuts.

As Lillian got older, she enjoyed arts and crafts.  People were always pleased to receive one of her homemade greeting cards.  And whenever the opportunity arose, Lillian could be found enjoying a game of Bingo.  She loved people and socializing, and always had time for a friendly chat with anyone.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Frieda and Joseph Rapp of Engadine, four siblings, and her husband, Henry.  Survivors include her children Lois (Roland) Schroeder, Dana (Joe) Striplin, and Diane (Hilary) Newby all of Michigan; Ray (Lynne) Teske of Colorado and Paul (Rosanne) Teske of Texas.  She was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and step grandchildren.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Lillian will be held Saturday June 8, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Newberry with Pastor Kyle Kuehl officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Home Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to North Woods Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 307, Manistique, MI  49854 in her loving memory.
