Rex Eugene Baut

January 5, 1947 – October 27, 2021

Rex Eugene Baut, 74, formerly of Kingsley, Michigan, died Wednesday afternoon October 27, 2021 at the Lake Michigan family home in Naubinway with his loving family at his side.

Born January 5, 1947 in Alma, son of the late Robert and Gretchen (May) Baut, Rex was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Madison Heights.

Rex served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on March 17, 1971 attaining the rank of Specialist Fourth Grade and continued in the Army Reserves until March 23, 1975.

A resident of Kingsley since 1977, Rex was employed as an operating engineer for several companies until his retirement in 2011.  Rex then moved to Russellville, Kentucky and was a summer seasonal resident of Naubinway.

Rex was a member of the American Legion Post #219 in Fife Lake, member of the Fife Lake Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, landscaping and collecting coins.

In addition to his parents, Rex is preceded in death by his siblings Leon and Robert Jr. and William Baut.

Survivors include his loving wife, the former Lynda Demmin, of Russellville, Kentucky and Naubinway; daughters Sharon (Scott) Sheets of Kingsley and Jennifer (Ed) Hautala of Russellville, Kentucky; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Per request, cremation services were accorded.  A graveside service conducted by the American Legion Post #219 and the United States Army Honor Guard will take place Saturday November 6, 2021 at 9:00 am at Fife Lake Cemetery in Fife Lake, Michigan with a luncheon to follow at 11:00 am at the American Legion Post #219.

Edward Adam Bielicki

August 13, 1940 – October 25, 2021

Edward Adam Bielicki, 81, of Curtis, died Monday afternoon October 25, 2021 at U.P. Health Systems-Marquette.

Born August 13, 1940 in Detroit, son of the late Edward and Catherine (Planko) Bielicki, Edward married the former Catherine Gallo on September 1, 1962 in Detroit.

A resident of Dearborn, Edward was employed by Ford Motor Company for 28 years until his retirement in 1998.  Following his retirement, Edward and his wife Catherine moved to the Upper Peninsula residing in Blaney Park and, in 2007, moved to Curtis where he has resided since.  During his retirement, they both enjoyed wintering in Arcadia, Florida.

Edward enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, attending musical concerts , in addition to an avid fan of his Detroit sports teams. He watched many Baseball, Hockey, and Football games. He was a longtime season ticket holder of the Detroit Lions and held hopes of them returning to the championship team he remembered as a child.

In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his wife Catherine on June 16, 2021.

Survivors include his loving children Edward (Laurie) Bielicki of Macomb, Donna Scarborough of Goodrich, Kimberly (Richard) Whitlock of Goodrich, James (Jamie) Bielicki of Jackson and John (Gloria) Bielicki of Farmington Hills; grandchildren Ashley, John Jr., Kiley, Michelle, Jessica, Natalie, Christine, Rachel, Genna and Jacob; great-grandchildren Danielle and Thomas.

Per request, cremation services were accorded.  A graveside service will be held in the spring/summer of 2022 at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Curtis.

Memorials may be directed to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital or UP Health System ICU in Marquette.

Dawn Darlene Bowler

September 23, 1938 – October 27, 2021

Dawn Darlene (Tovey) Bowler (83) , was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away October 27, 2021.

She was born to Leo and Shirley Tovey of Germfask, Michigan on September 23, 1938, and is survived by her sister Pamela Rutherford and brother Tim Tovey.

After high school Dawn attended Northern Michigan University where she obtained her degree in Criminal Justice.  She worked for and retired from the Center of Forensic Psychiatry after 32 years.

On November 30, 1957 she married her loving husband, Ernest Wesley Bowler, of 64 years, and together they had 3 children. Evan Bowler, Lynn (Louis) Hicks, and (preceded in death by) Randy Bowler.

Dawn not only was a loving wife and mother, but also grandmother to Ashley Bowler, Amber (Chris) Miracle, Cheryl (David) Boeve, and Wesley Bowler.

She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, feeding her squirrels and birds, watching the Detroit Tigers play, but most of all spending time with her family. Dawn brought light and love to all that knew her. She will be remembered and deeply missed by all.

Deborah Lynn Case

October 16, 1955 – October 25, 2021

Longtime Newberry resident, Deborah Lynn Case, 66, died Monday afternoon October 25, 2021 at her residence with her family at her side.

Born October 16, 1955 in Mt. Clemens, daughter of the late Harold and Donna (Nelson) Musall, Deb was a 1973 graduate of Newberry High School and graduate of Bay Mills Community College obtaining an Associate Degree in early childhood education.

On August 4, 1973, Deb married Fred “Mick” Case in Newberry.  Deb owned and operated Little Rascals Day Care in Newberry for 30 years until her retirement in 2016.  She was a member of the American Legion Post #74 Ladies Auxiliary and Four C’s Day Care Cooperative in the Eastern Upper Peninsula.  Her hobbies included scrapbooking, camping, the outdoors walking and riding her bicycle and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Deb was very proud to acknowledge all active and retired personnel for their military service to our country.

In addition to her parents, Deb is preceded in death by her brother-in-law Merle Robinson.

Survivors include her loving husband, Mick, of Newberry; children Kristina (Bum) Derusha of Newberry, Theresa (Billy) Rogers of Marquette and Brian Case of Centreville, Virginia; grandchildren Brook (Derek) Dake, Lotie (Jeremy) Hudson, Ellie Mae Derusha, Marlee (Elden) Salo, Kaden Rogers and Mick Case; great-grandchildren Micah Dake, Jayce Hudson, Jaxyn Hudson, Ariah Buskirk  and Charlotte Salo; siblings Norma Gould of Lakeland, Florida, Harold (Bonnie) Musall of Alden, Carol Robinson of Gaylord, Raymond (Tara) Musall of Vanderbilt, Richard (Sharon) Musall of Mancelona and Darlene (Ted) Grannis of Harris; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday November 1, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Living Water Assembly of God Church.  A memorial service celebrating the life of Deb will follow at 2:00 pm at the church with Pastor Jim Duflo officiating.

Reinhart C. Kleeman

August 4, 1965 – October 18, 2021

Reinhart Cecil Kleeman, 56, of Newberry, died Monday October 18, 2021.

Born August 4, 1965 in Newberry, son of the late Reinhart and Bonnie (Lewis) Kleeman, Reinhart was a graduate of Rainier High School in Rainier, Oregon.  His hobbies and interests included old cars, fishing and riding his bike.

In addition to his parents, Reinhart is preceded in death by his step-father Theodore Van Camp.

Survivors include his wife Rosemary Kleeman of Westport, Oregon; son Nicholas Kleeman of Newberry; grandchildren Lily Kleeman, Carter Kleeman and Ava Kleeman.

Per request, cremation services were accorded.  A graveside service will take place at a later date at Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry.
