Ernest A. Peterson
December 29, 1935 – May 26, 2022

Ernest Arthur Peterson, age 86, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at The Villa at West Branch.

Born December 29, 1935, Ernie Peterson was a lifelong resident of McMillan, MI.  He was the sixth child born to Frank and Agatha (Muringer) Peterson.  Ernie attended McMillan High School and later served in the US Army.

Ernie came back home after the Army to be with his aging parents and got a job in the woods cutting pulp wood, and he became one of the best woodsmen in the area.  Ernie enjoyed all the simple pleasures in life hunting, fishing, and gardening.  He started wood carving as a hobby and again became one of the best wood carvers of fishing decoys.  He is known all over the U.S. for his beautiful decoys.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Agatha (Muringer) Peterson and siblings, Vernon, Rose Marie, Myrtle Ann, Alonzo, and Raymond.

Ernest is survived by his cousin, Gerald (Renita) Muringer of Prescott and best friend, Ed Auge.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A graveside service will be held at a later date in McMillan, MI.

Katherine Bell (Hall) Hudson
April 24, 1943 – January 30, 2022

Katherine Bell Hudson (Hall), age 78, of Wyoming, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 30, 2022. She was born on April 24, 1943 to John and Katie Hall in Hulbert, MI.

Katherine was an avid cat and bird lover. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sherry (Jon) Dehn, Brenda (Leo) Wondergem, Tammy Hudson; grandchildren, Chasity (Chris) Kopernik, Travis (Jessica) Dehn, Leo Wondergem, Jr., Ashley Leys; and four great-grandchildren.

Private family services have already taken place. Interment services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at Hulbert Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of West Michigan or your local humane society.

 

Monna Jean O’Dell
July 29, 1941 – May 26, 2022

Monna Jean O’Dell, 80, of Midland, formerly of Coleman and Curtis, MI, died Thursday, May 26, 2022 at MyMichigan Medical Center, Midland, surrounded by her children. She was born on July 29, 1941 in Saginaw, the daughter of the late Arden & Evelyn (Whitmore) Searight. Monna Jean Searight married James P. O’Dell on September 12, 1959. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2012.

Survivors include her children, Sheila (Tom) Zajbel of Bowersville, OH and Chad (Melissa) O’Dell of Midland; grandchildren: Kayla (CJ) Burnett, Kelsey (Chase) Hensley, Kalley Schulz, Avian O’Dell, Alexander O’Dell; great-grandchild Cole Burnett;  sisters-in-law Sharon Searight and Connie Scott, and many nieces and nephews. Monna Jean was also preceded in death by her brother Earl Wayne Searight.

Monna loved her grandchildren deeply and found joy in spending everyday moments with them. Some of her favorite times included boating and tubing at the lake up north, taking them to movies, attending their school events, and playing Euchre and Yahtzee. She could often be found cuddling on the couch and watching Battle Bots or train videos with her grandsons, or enjoying dinners with her family. She always took the time to visit with her family and friends and tell them how much she loved them.

She loved her best friend, Barb Morley, and enjoyed many fun road trips and excursions with her throughout their treasured friendship of 50 years.

Monna had a keen eye for spotting gifts to give to those she cared for, and was a generous gift-giver.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Midland Evangelical Free Church, 7221 North Jefferson Avenue, Midland, with Pastor Gib Giblin officiating. A luncheon will follow. Friends may call at O’Laughlin Funeral Home, 215 W. Adams St., Coleman, from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 1, or at the church on Thursday starting at 10:00 AM until the time of service.

 

Beverly Ann Reshman
September 9, 1935 – May 6, 2022

Beverly Ann Reshman (Stokes), 86, of Paw Paw, entered Gods space on Friday May 6, 2022 at Maple Lake Assisted Living in Paw Paw.

She was born September 9, 1935 in Newberry, Michigan, the daughter of Ernest Stokes and Margaret (Beach) Stokes.

Beverly was a graduate of Newberry High School, class of 1953, then went on to training at Bronson Hospital to become a nurse, graduating in 1956. On February 23, 1957 she was united in marriage to Jerry Reshman and enjoyed 65 years of being a homemaker, wife and mother. In addition to nursing, Beverly also volunteered and was a Paw Paw United Methodist Women’s District and regional representative traveling across the country for several decades.

Beverly and Jerry traveled to many special places from Newfoundland and Florida to Alaska, California and Hawaii.

On February 23, 1957, in Newberry, she married Ernest  Jerome Reshman who survives.

She is also survived by her son, Mike (Anne) Reshman; daughter, Ann Reshman; one grandson, Joshua Reshman; her sister, Suzzanne (Gerald) Wilson; two sisters in law, Ruth Stokes and Hazel Kean; three nephews, Dan Hunter, Steve Stokes, Marshall (Elphriede) Kean; nieces, Kathy Kean Krocker, Sarah Hunter, Karen (Dan) Chapo and Paula Kean McLemore.

Beverly was preceded in death by her brother, Mike Stokes.

Cremation has taken place, there will be a celebration of life held at a later date. Beverly will be interred at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lawton.
